HRT use is one of the most controversial topics in menopause care.
The prescription of HRT is highly dependent on multiple factors and is usually given earlier in menopause.
However, this is highly dependent on previously existing conditions, even surgical menopause.
HRT is mainly prescribed when vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, sleep) are affected, but can show improvement in preventative measures. Make sure you ask your providers about both sides of it.
If you fall in your treatment window to get HRT, make sure the provider is educating you on everything you may or may not experience.
If you fall out of the treatment window, ask for alternatives that can help you.
If you are considering “natural” hormonal treatments, make sure your provider is aware.
