STEPS

1. Environmental samples from around Miami University were collected.

2. Any phages in the samples were purified using Microbacterium foliorum, the bacteria our phages attack.

3. The discovered phages were named.

4. The phages were propagated. 

5. Microscopy photos were taken of the phages.

6. DNA was isolated from the phages.

7. The genomes of two of the phages (JimmyPG and the mystery phage) were sequenced and annotated to determine the identity and function of their genes.
