Why Elevate

In Cameroon like most sub-Sahara African countries, 30% of recent graduates are reportedly unable to get a job, while 75% of graduates are underemployed, working at a level lower than their academic qualifications 5 years following their graduation.

Why Are These Statistics Disturbing?

The fourth industrial revolution driven by the Digital Transformation and other leading technologies will drastically cause a shift within the workplace as we know it today. The stakes are even higher for future professionals and the skills they'd require to stand out will also change dramatically.

Across many African universities is a staggering lack of student support services which play a vital role to prepare students to embrace the professional world. In addition, no clear graduate pathways exist for students. It is important that higher education institutions strengthen ties with industry, stay abreast with industry trends and ensure that university graduates are adequately prepared to solve the challenges of the future.

Why Did We Start Elevate?

Our aim is to mobilize the right opportunities and experiences for students graduating across African universities and prepare them for the future workplace. One in constant dynamics requirement a new and diverse skills set which go beyond technical know-how. We need future professionals who are agile and ready to adapt.

Elevate will admit highly motivated and driven students, select them through a robust process and provide the platform where other young professionals leading across across certain industries will give back through mentorship. We'd build a pool of high performing students from which companies can hire from while advocating for stronger ties between industry and African universities.
