Beyond my teaching responsibilities, the SEA Teacher Program provided countless opportunities to experience Filipino culture, connect with local communities, and build lasting friendships.
Malumpati Cold Spring 🏞️
Together with fellow SEA Teacher participants, I visited Malumpati Cold Spring, one of the well-known natural attractions in Antique. Surrounded by lush greenery and crystal-clear spring water, the trip offered a refreshing break from our teaching responsibilities. We also visited a Piña Weaving Factory, where we learned about the traditional process of producing piña fabric from pineapple fibers
Tree Planting Activity 🌿
As part of our environmental and community engagement program, we participated in a tree-planting activity at the Capiz State University Pontevedra Campus. This activity emphasized the importance of environmental conservation while strengthening teamwork among SEA Teacher participants, faculty members, and local students.
Minoro ka Pupoydon, San Julian, Tapaz 🏛️
One of the most meaningful experiences during the program was participating in a Cultural Immersion at Minoro ka Pupoydon in San Julian, Tapaz.
This visit introduced us to the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the indigenous community. We learned about their customs, traditional practices, local crafts, and way of life, allowing us to gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural diversity of the Philippines.
Family Day with Capiz Family ✨
Every weekend, I have the opportunity to celebrate family day with the College of Agriculture and Forestry, College of Management, Department of Biosystems Engineering, and the College of Education . These family gatherings allowed me to experience Filipino hospitality, traditions, and everyday life beyond the university. Through shared meals, conversations, and visits to different places, I felt welcomed and treated as part of the family.
Daily Life with My Fellow and Buddies🌈
Throughout the program, I shared countless moments with my two fellow interns from Indonesia and our assigned buddies, who became my companions throughout this unforgettable journey.
