This Week 9/21 -9/25
We are reading Ground Zero by Alan Gratz. This week, students will read Chapter's 3 and practice annotating important details about characters, conflict, setting, and emerging themes. We will examine characterization, setting, conflict, perspective, and the historical context surrounding the novel.
Homework & Due Dates
Students should have gotten their own copy of Ground Zero Thursday, September 10th, 2026. This week we will finish any Ground Zero Chapter 3 reading or annotations not completed during class. Review your annotations and class notes.
Students should have been given vocabulary packets and will need to study daily on their own for their test on the 28th.
Students will need to complete the first page front and back of their socratic seminar packets by next Tuesday 9/29.
Coming Up
Next Week, students will participate in their first Socratic Seminar on Ground Zero. Students should come prepared with their book, annotations, evidence from the text and the first page of their packet filled out.
