What is AVID to our sophomores?

• "AVID is my safe space more or less, I don't get nervous or anxious to be in AVID as I am in other classes."

• "AVID to me is a place to have the opportunity to become a better student. A class where we learn to find ways to improve and take note of ourselves on how to grow academically."

• "AVID is a community to me. In AVID, I am able to see my Peers and Teachers and know I could go to them if I need advice or just need support academically and outside of school."

• "To me, AVID is a group effort. All of us want the same thing, to become ready for college in this class, and become better students in our school. AVID helps me become ready and helps me plan out not only my homework but the day."

Why do they like AVID?

• "I like AVID because it helps me stay organized and on track with my work. I also like it because I know if I ever need help with any problems I'm having in any subjects, I can ask any of my AVID teachers."

• "I like AVID since I am able to apply what I learned in my main academic classes and demonstrate and learn methods to understand and learn from my confusions. I also like the way we do team-building activities and different assignments."
