Alexa is a 2022 graduate of the MHHS AVID Program.
Alexa, a first-generation college student, said, "I started my college journey and have loved it! I am currently the president of an empowerment in STEM (ESTEM) club and am working for the Center of Civic Engagement at Drew (both things have helped bridge the STEM and humanities fields), I joined an organic chemistry research lab through Drew’s research program, I have started shadowing at a microbiology and analytical lab, and I studied abroad for a month in Barcelona to complete my Spanish degree. Humble brag: I have received a few awards, such as being accredited by the American Chemical Society Division of Analytical Chemistry for work in analytical chemistry courses and receiving the Drew Class of 1985 senior gift award for exceptional academic promise, while including a bold vision for a just and equitable community. Aside from academics, however, I have had the honor of serving in my church as a youth leader for the very same group that has taken part in shaping who I am today, and I have also recently had the opportunity to be featured in AVIDs celebration book of student success! "
Alexa is now considering pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry after she graduates from Drew University in May 2026.
