Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Dear Morris Knolls Community,

As you know, our drop-off and pick up time frame is busy and congested due to the fact that we have one entry/exit to our campus.  

To help ensure a safe and efficient start and end to the school day, I ask that you review and abide by the following procedures and protocol.  

1. Parents should drop off students in front of the school on Knoll Drive (see map below)  Vehicles may drop off in front of the school and students will enter through the Main Entrance.   Please note that students will not be permitted in the building before 6:45 AM.  Students should exit the vehicle on the right passenger side.  Students will not be permitted to exit on the driver's side of the vehicle for safety reasons.  We will have security personnel monitoring traffic flow and enforcing drop off procedures.  Please know that buses will also use this drop off area.  The majority of our buses will drop off by 7:15 AM.  Parents are not permitted to drop off or pick up students behind the building for safety reasons.  

2. Parents should pick up their students in the senior student lot in front of the school.  District buses begin lining up for dismissal in front of the school at 2:00 PM each day.  Students are dismissed at 2:27 PM and all buses depart at 2:35 PM.  Campus is typically cleared of all departing vehicles by 2:45 PM.  Parents picking their children up after school are asked to arrive anytime after 2:45 PM to ensure a safe and efficient pickup in the senior lot.  Parents picking up students involved in athletics and extracurricular activities are reminded to pick up their students in front of the school on Knoll Drive or in front of the BOE office.  The back of the building will not be accessible to through traffic to ensure the safety of our students.  

3. Students are encouraged to ride our district buses.  The district provides busing for all students. Riding the bus limits the traffic around the building and assures that students arrive on time. (If a bus is late, students are not marked tardy). In addition to our regular bus runs, the district provides a 4:00 bus (M-Thurs) and a 6:00 PM bus (M - Fri). 

4. Students crossing Knoll Drive in front of the school are reminded to only cross at designated crosswalks.  

We will continue to monitor traffic patterns in coordination with the Denville Township Police Department and make adjustments where necessary.
