-Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd president of the United States and was known for writing the Declaration of Independence. He also was known for the purchase of the Louisiana territory from Napoleon in 1803 and being a part of the democratic-republican party. Also becoming the vice president in 1796.
In 1803 Jefferson bought the Louisiana territory from Napoleon.
He originally only wanted the port of New Orleans for 10 million, but Napoleon needed money for the war with Britain and decided to sell the whole Louisiana territory for a bargain of only 15 million.
She was the wife of Thomas Jefferson until 1772 which is her death date.
She helped manage the plantation while Thomas was away at Washington.
