Benjamin Franklin's parents were Josiah Franklin and Abiah Folger. His ended school at the age of ten, he taught himself and started his own printing business at age 15.
There were 55 delegates there to sign the Constitution. But only 39, including Franklin, actually signed the Constitution.
Franklin and Hamilton were the only people in history to be on money, and NOT become a United States president.
In Franklin's will he gave Washington the walking stick, adorned with "cap of liberty" that he accepted in 1783 as America's minister plenipotentiary in France.
He was an American writer, scientist, inventor, statesmen, diplomat, printer, publisher, and political philosopher. His inventions include, lightning conductor, the first map of the Gulf Stream,, the glass armonica, bifocals, the printing press, the Franklin Stove, and Franklin's electrostatic machine.. He was an amazing author and made the "Silence Dogood" letters. He was America's "first great man of letters." He was also the only man to sign all three papers. The Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Paris, and the Constitution.
Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706, and he died on April 17, 1790.
Franklin used to own slaves, but since he got into the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society, he wants to free them.

FUN FACT ALERT: around 20,000 people visited Franklin's funeral after he died in Pennsylvania!!
He founded the American Philosophical Society, the Library company of Philadelphia, and the Academy of Philadelphia which is now a university college. He also helped establish the first public hospital, and the System of Fire Insurance. At age 79, Franklin became the President and effective governor of Pennsylvania for 3 years. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention as well. In 1787, he became the president of the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society. (this society made Franklin want to free the slaves) He also edited and published the first Masonic book in the Americas, he remained a Freemason the rest of his life.
