Class overview
The purpose of the Mount Gilead Band Program is to provide a quality instrumental music education to students who choose to participate. This will be accomplished with proper fundamental instruction, music that covers a broad spectrum of styles, as well as a variety of performance opportunities.
The middle school band serves as a transitional group between that expands on the skills learned in the beginning band class. Students will experience class in more of a rehearsal setting, and more of an emphasis will be put on preparing and performing band repertoire. Students will learn skills and fundamentals that will ultimately prepare them for membership in the high school band.
Hello and welcome to the Middle School Band!
This will be my 8th year as the Band Director at Mt. Gilead. I am from Pickerington, Ohio, and I received my Bachelor's of Music Education degree from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) where I was a member of the OSU Marching Band, amongst other performing ensembles in the School of Music.
I am married to my wonderful wife, Katie, and we have a dog (Bruno) and a cat (Linus). Music is my passion, but I also enjoy spending time with friends, playing golf, and cheering on my favorite teams (Buckeyes, Guardians, Bengals, Blue Jackets, and Crew).
I am excited to have all of you in class this year!
