Class overview
The purpose of the Mount Gilead Band Program is to provide a quality instrumental music education to students who choose to participate. This will be accomplished with proper fundamental instruction, music that covers a broad spectrum of styles, as well as a variety of performance opportunities.
The 6th grade beginning band is a musical launchpad for students, where they will learn the basic fundamentals of the instrument of their choice. The class has a "workshop-style" atmosphere where students are encouraged to work together to experience and practice their new skills. The 6th grade band performs twice during the school year to display their talents to parents and friends. Ultimately, the goal of the beginning band is to develop the necessary skills to move on to the middle school band in 7th grade.
Hello and welcome to the Middle School Band!
This will be my 8th year as the Band Director at Mt. Gilead. I am from Pickerington, Ohio, and I received my Bachelor's of Music Education degree from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) where I was a member of the OSU Marching Band, amongst other performing ensembles in the School of Music.
I am married to my wonderful wife, Katie, and we have a dog (Bruno) and a cat (Linus). Music is my passion, but I also enjoy spending time with friends, playing golf, and cheering on my favorite teams (Buckeyes, Guardians, Bengals, Blue Jackets, and Crew).
I am excited to have all of you in class this year!
