The MG Lax story is about who we are and where we come from. Our crest represents water and land, vision and grit, team and community. It ties us to the Yahara lakes, the ground beneath our feet, and the osprey soaring above. For our players, it’s a symbol of pride and fearlessness — every time we put on the jersey, we carry our story onto the field.

The Osprey is our namesake because it’s fast, fearless, and relentless. They are the only raptors with the determination to dive all the way under the water to capture their prey, and they succeed more often than any other bird of prey.

That spirit is what we bring to the field. Like the osprey, MG players stay sharp, strike with confidence, and never back down.

The Shield Shape: A shield stands for pride and protection. It reminds us that while lacrosse is a fierce game, it’s also about looking out for each other, respecting the sport, and building a strong, safe program for every player.

The Four Blue Stripes: Each stripe represents one of the four Yahara Lakes (Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, and Kegonsa) the waters that connect our communities. Together, they stand for flow, connection, and the home we all share.

Lacrosse Head & Ball: At the heart of the shield sits the lacrosse head and ball. The ball doesn’t just symbolize the game — it also rises like the sun over our land and water, bringing light, energy, and new opportunity. Every face-off is a sunrise, every play a chance to rise together as a team.

Our colors represent the place we call home. "Yahara Blue" shows water, depth, and strength  —  balanced by "Four Lakes Blue" for Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, and Kegonsa. Built on the water are the earth tones of "Terra Rossa" and "Glacial Till." Terra Rossa evokes Wisconsin’s homegrown red clays, formed through the weathering of local bedrock, while Glacial Till represents the soils left behind by the glaciers that carved our landscape.
