SEED Registration for Fall 2025 has closed!
Your school must be registered with Franklin County Metro Parks SEED program in order to participate in a Metro Park SEED In-Class Visit.
If you have any questions about your school's registration in SEED and you are in Franklin County Ohio, please contact your school Principal/fifth grade science teacher(s)
SEED In-Class visit should be scheduled for 1 hr per homeroom /group of ~30 students.
What will my Naturalist talk about during the SEED In-Class visit?
Please discuss your groups' individual needs and structure with your Park Partner when scheduling your visit.
Metro Parks strives to a rigorous and relevant Ohio Science Standards aligned programming standard.
Your Metro Parks' Naturalist will focus on one or more Park and local ecosystem resource management issues:
Endangered and threatened species
Invasive and native species
Symbiotic relationships
Energy flow within an ecosystem
Note: Individual Naturalist present different programs in terms of content and style. If you have more than one Naturalist scheduled for your school's In-Class visit, your classes may receive very different presentations. When scheduling, please consult with your Park Partner about individual class needs so that we may best fit our programs to meet the needs of your students.
Note: Classroom management is the teacher's responsibility: Naturalist should never be left alone to supervise students.
Scheduling will be completed via your Park Partner and Contact Teacher.
When should you schedule your In-Class Visit?
Contact Teachers should contact their Park Partner as early as possible. Naturalist time slots fill up VERY fast, and are filled on a first come first served basis.
Contact Teachers should schedule In-Class Presentations for all 5th grade classes in their school
In-Class Visits can take place anytime from the start of school to winter break
