Manufacturing Internship Opportunity: Seniors and Alumni
Earlier this year, I applied for and received a $200,000 grant to provide 30 youth internships (200 hours, $15 dollars an hour) specifically for the Manufacturing industry, over the next two years. In addition, we have partnered with North Montco (Adult Education) to provide scholarships through the grant for successful and interested interns. The goal is for them to ultimately be hired by their employer immediately post internship.
We have two committed employers already, however, I am confident I can recruit more closer to your student’s locations if needed.
From the CTC side: please share with any of your Manufacturing/Robotics or Welding students/grads, along with any Construction or Auto students who may not have employment upon graduation.
From the District side: please share with any students/grads who may be mechanically inclined, that may not have a plan yet, who may be interested in working with their hands post graduation. This is a great opportunity to learn while they earn and to potentially pick up an education on the back end without debt.
This is eligibility based, however, I do believe the majority of your students would be eligible as they do not have significant work experience.
Participants must meet the following criteria:
Be legally eligible to work in the United States
Be able to complete approximately 200 hours of internship employment
Meet at least one barrier to employment category
Barriers to employment may include:
• Low income status
• Long-term unemployment
• Disability
• Single parent status
• Justice system involvement
• Limited work experience
Please share the interest form below with potentially interested students and please let me know if you have any questions!
