AMANDA LOCKE #21 NMHS - #22 Alabama

North Mesquite High School Softball

For four straight years, standout softball player Amanda Locke led her North Mesquite team to the playoffs, advancing to the third round each season. In 2007, Locke earned the titles of EA Sports Softball All-American, TGCA and Texas Sportswriters Association Second Team All-State and District MVP. She was named to the First All-District Team as a freshman and claimed the team’s MVP spot in 2004 and 2006. After graduation, Locke attended the University of Alabama on scholarship and won a national championship with the Alabama softball team. Lettering all four years at Alabama, Locke appeared in 224 games for the Crimson Tide and set records including third-most career home runs (54). After playing professionally for the Carolina Diamonds, Locke now serves as the pitching coach at Texas Tech University. North Mesquite High School and our softball program is honored to have Amanda Locke as an Alumna! Go North!

As a 2007 North Mesquite Graduate, Amy Hooks #17, led North Mesquite Softball in every conceivable statistical category in 2007. Amy will always be a true champion with North Mesquite. Amy a 4 year starter, and her teammates orchestrated 4 consecutive playoff appearances, 2 District Championships, 4 consecutive Bi-District Championships, 4 consecutive Area Championships, and 4 Regional Quarterfinal finals. Hooks earned a full scholarship and went on to a stellar career at the University of Texas where they won the Big 12 Championship in 2010. She was a 4 year starter at UT and was the 2011 Big 12 Player of the Year. She is the first softball player in Longhorn history to achieve this honor. Amy's parents are Ricky and Sandi Hooks. Ricky Hooks credits North Mesquite for Amy's opportunity to attend and graduate from The University of Texas. Hooks is now residing in Natchitoches, Louisiana and recently accepted the Head Coaches position at Lamar University.
