Married to Janet Smith - 4 children - 7 grandchildren

Coach Smith is a 1982 graduate of Mesquite High School. Additionally, he is a 2003 Graduate of A&M Commerce with a degree in Health and Kinesiology and also holds a Masters Degree from Lamar University in Educational Leadership. Prior to education, Coach Smith worked in Public safety for 10 years as a firefighter/EMT in Balch Springs. In 1994 he left the fire department and went into business with his family at Annexus Personnel and Business Services. Coach Smith began his career by coaching his daughter Ashley on the 12-U Texas Twisters followed by 14-U/16-U Mesquite Elite. After he graduated A&M Commerce In 2003, Coach Smith was hired as the Varsity Head Softball /Fr. Volleyball Coach at North Mesquite. The softball program was solid in the first 4 years of his professional career. The softball team earned a playoff birth his first season, which was the first post season for North Softball since the 1999-2000 school year. North Softball continued to excel for 9 consecutive seasons winning 2 District Championships, 5 Bi District Championships, 4 Area Final Championships and reaching the State Quarter - finals 4 consecutive years. After leaving education for 4 years to assist his family in closing the business, he returned for the 2016-17 school year, and once again the team made the playoffs in 2018. North Mesquite High School is the only High School Coach Smith has ever been employed with, and he can't ever imagine coaching or teaching anywhere else.

Varsity Assistant / JV Coach - Madison Sadler


Coach Sadler is a 2016 graduate of Poteet High School, as well as a 2019 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Sport Management, and a 2021 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Masters of Education in Sport Management. Sadler was a pitcher and utility player in her time at Poteet High School, and served as a pitcher for one year for the UMass Minutewomen. The following years she served as an operations and recruiting intern for the UMass Football team, specializing in hosting recruiting events for prospective student athletes to the program. During this time Sadler was also a part time employee at KEOM FM in Mesquite, serving as an on air and production assistant, while also filling in for sports broadcasts. In the fall of 2019 Coach Sadler began her teaching career at Vanston Middle School in the 6th grade science department. In the 2021-22 school year, she served as an 8th grade science teacher at Vanston MS, while also working as the Varsity Assistant Coach of the John Horn High School softball team. In the 2022 season, the Lady Jags finished 4th in district, and were a Bi District Finalist. Sadler is excited to be continuing her career in the North Side feeder pattern, and is ready to hit the ground running this season!
