Welcome to the ELC

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to The Early Learning Center! I hope that you and your family had a fun, relaxing and most importantly, healthy summer vacation. While we are starting this school year off much differently than in the past, there are some things that remain the same! There is no joy greater than seeing your children’s happy faces at arrival, dismissal and in their classrooms. They are becoming more adjusted every day and we are so proud of how they are handling all of the safety protocols that are in place.

As the School Social Worker, I am here to support our students, teachers, and parents in ensuring your child’s preschool or kindergarten year is a successful and happy one. If this is your first experience with The Early Learning Center, you will quickly learn that we have a safe, warm and nurturing school environment where every student feels included and valued. In addition to all of the valuable academic skills your children will learn, we will also be focusing on developing their character education and social thinking skills. Throughout the year, I will conduct video-based presentations that will focus on these skills. Each month, your child will engage in a classroom activity to reinforce this learning. Beginning in October, I will be presenting weekly video-based mindfulness activities designed to provide a foundation for your child’s social and emotional learning skills. In an effort to maintain the integrity of cohort social distancing, small group counseling will not take place, but please let me know if you have any concerns about your individual child’s social or emotional well-being and we will work together to address them.

As the Anti-Bullying Specialist, I will continue to provide programming that addresses prosocial, age-appropriate activities designed to prevent bullying and enhance your child’s ability to recognize and respond to peer interactions. I am also responsible for handling looking into any issues that may arise in our building.

I am so looking forward to working with you and your children this year. I thank you in advance for all the collaboration and support you give to our programs. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or questions. I can be reached by phone (732) 786-2757 or email jillberlinlogatto@mersnj.us.

Sincerely,

Jill Berlin LoGatto, LCSW
