A Note from the School Social Worker

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to The Early Learning Center!  I hope that you and your family had a fun and relaxing summer vacation.  There is no joy greater than seeing your children’s excited faces at arrival, dismissal and in their classrooms.  They are becoming more adjusted every day and we are so proud of how they are handling all of their new routines.

As the School Social Worker, I am here to support our students, teachers, and parents in ensuring your child’s preschool or kindergarten year is a successful and happy one.  If this is your first experience with The Early Learning Center, you will quickly learn that we have a safe, warm and nurturing school environment where every student feels included and valued.  In addition to all of the valuable academic skills your children will learn, we will also be focusing on developing their character education and social thinking skills.  Our theme this year will be, “I am Giving!  I am Kind! and I am Respectful!”  Throughout the year, we will have assemblies that focus on these character traits and we will do building-wide activities to allow the children to have a hands-on experience of each one. Beginning in October, I will be running small group sessions, focusing on areas where some students may need additional support.  As the Anti-Bullying Specialist, I will provide programming that addresses prosocial, age-appropriate activities designed to prevent bullying and enhance your child’s ability to recognize and respond to peer interactions.
