Strive to get 1% better each day because that 1% will add up over time
My coaching philosophies are a broader scope of my overall beliefs- Aggregation of Marginal Gains while my training philosophy prioritizes a progressive overload approach. I gained these philosophies from previous experiences under different coaches and apply these philosophies to my everyday training. In this portfolio I have included general programming, testing measurements, as well as other examples of my coaching and training beliefs.
My goal is to continue to learn and grow in the strength and conditioning world. I coach athletes to become the best version of themselves. This portfolio specifically outlines my coaching and training philosophies as a strength and conditioning professional. My knowledge of coaching beliefs aids in designing specific programs for athletes and clients that target their individual needs and help them achieve their goals. There is an art and a science to training and strengthening the human body to perform at its top physical potential. As a passionate coach I believe knowledge and dedicated instruction can create the difference in making a healthy team thoroughly enjoy their process.

Clients & Athletes
"Paul has helped me get my life back"
"I first met Paul Sawyer a few years back when I sought out professional strength training to help address a spinal condition. This condition caused significant pain and prevented me from traditional exercise. Through our work together, Paul has become a trusted coach, advisor, and friend. He has helped me become stronger with exercises he has modified for me. He has researched my condition and shared new and creative ideas for addressing it. I am thrilled beyond measure to say it’s made all the difference. Thanks to Paul, my pain has diminished significantly. I was able to go hiking for the first time in nine years. I have my life back and I couldn’t be happier!!"

"Paul's programming has gotten me the strongest I have ever been and I have worked out my entire life"
"I think I speak for a majority of people when I say Covid quarantine wasn't kind to my body. I became extremely de-conditioned and out of shape and gained weight that wasn't there before quarantine. I was not exercising consistently nor with the intensity that I once had. Through the help of a program that Paul carefully curated and numbers that were meticulously crunched, I was back to the athleticism, mindset, and body that I once had within a few weeks. Not only that, but within months I am stronger than I have ever been, hitting new personal records every month thanks to the dedication Paul has put into training programs."

"He keeps his terms simple to better comprehend complex exercise physiology and uses analogies to make learning easy"
"When I first began working with Paul, I had just recovered from open heart surgery, and for the first time in my life, I could workout with zero restrictions. I just had no idea where to start. Paul was able to help teach me the basics and helped me develop healthy habits as well. Over the years that I have known Paul, he has always been there to develop a new workout routine, both in and out of the gym, and answer any question i have. I am the healthiest I have ever been thanks to Paul."

"Paul pays attention to every little detail. He constantly thinks outside of the box"
"I met Paul when I was looking to get back in shape after finishing graduate school and I was suffering from a back injury sustained from years of competitive cheerleading. Paul was helpful in learning and understanding my injury as well as incorporating stretches recommended by my chiropractor. He tailored my training around my back injury and utilized strength exercises to help me overcome it to prevent further pain. He is very easy to talk to and get along with, too, which I believe is important as you are working together to get to your fitness goals and figure out what works best for you!"
