ART 3
Prerequisite: Art 2
At this level students will be able to do more independent art study and have more control over media selection. Variety is encouraged but students may focus on several media that interest them the most. Through original compositions, students will create works in the style of artists from the past. They also continue outside sketchbook work. At this time students should be thinking about the body of work already created and the work they want to create. Next year students can have a senior display of their work over the past few years. They may want to plan a senior portfolio when applying for admission to other art institutes or universities. This usually occurs in the fall so Art 3 is the level at which to really push to create work for that event next year.
All levels of art at Merkel High School are required to maintain a digital portfolio through google sites. They will also be required to complete a visual journal entry every two weeks. For more information, see the visual journals page.
