Prerequisite: Art 1
Having completed Art ,1 students will continue their creative journey with Art 2. Art 2 is the continuation of developing skills and promoting self expression. They will be introduced to other drawing media and materials and the possible blending of different media. Students will continue experimentation with painting, printmaking, fibers, ceramics, and sculpture. They will be encouraged to do outside drawings and add to their sketchbook development which will be a record of their continued artistic process. A record of sketching and rough draft work is an asset when visiting with any university or fine arts academy for admission after high school.
All levels of art at Merkel High School are required to maintain a digital portfolio through google sites. They will also be required to complete a visual journal entry every two weeks. For more information, see the visual journals page.
