We know that not all students learn in the same way or at the same pace. Mercy faculty are committed to providing top tier instruction to all students, and thus differential instruction and evidence based teaching practices are built into the general curriculum at every level of learning.
Mercy provides a variety of levels of classes, ranging from Academic level support classes up to Advanced Placement. Movement between levels is fluid and based on student performance and academic needs. This means that students remain challenged, but can move at the pace and depth that best suits their own abilities and learning style.
Some students will need more individualized support than the general curriculum can provide. For those students that are eligible, individual Academic Accommodation Plans are available. Click here for more information.
Individual tutoring sessions available daily during study blocks and structured after-school tutoring program for more intensive needs.
The Sister Prisca Achievement Center (PAC) provides support to any student in every subject area and academic level. Sign up for a 25-minute tutoring block by completing this Google Sheet. Reach interventionists in the PAC by emailing mercypac@mercyjaguars.com.
We know that not all learning happens in the classroom and not every problem can be solved with a quick lesson. All students have access to both academic and mental health support through the Mercy counseling department. For students within the Learning Differences program, they also have additional support available from Learning Differences program faculty.
At Mercy, we know that every student is on her own journey to adulthood. Our goal is to develop the whole person, not simply the academic record. As such, our goal for each student is to build her own self-advocacy, organization, and social/emotional skills, in order to grow into the best version of herself. All Freshman students with an accommodation plan will partake in a guided study to build lifelong organization, social, and study skills. Guided Study is available to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors upon request.
