Resources that Math and Science teachers should never be without!
Desmos is a resource that helps students to think more critically about what they are learning. It helps students to connect multiple representations all at once, ask students "what if" questions to verify their thoughts, and provide a classroom with the opportunity for discussion while reading other student responses.
These activities can be very useful as an anticipatory set to build prior background knowledge or even an exit ticket to check for understanding.
Gizmos is a resource that helps students, especially virtual students, dig deeper into science and provide them with a hands-on lab experience. It also helps students to see how these scientific topics can apply in our world. It gives students something to visualize, manipulate, and compare and contrast. Students enter the role of a scientist, make connections, and draw conclusions about their "what-if" experimentation. This can be utilized as a whole group, small groups, or even independently!
This is also a resource that can be used in math, but I personally have not used that side of it yet.
This year I completed a book study that has has an immense impact on my teaching and it has been a resource that I have used as a guide to improve my teaching strategies overall.
This has not only been an applicable resource for math, but for science as well for gathering thoughts to apply to writing.
