Workshop 3

Short-term exchange of pupils groups on the Participatory Budgeting topic. The leading organization Mendelova střední škola, Nový Jičín, had to organize this workshop online (01.02.2021 – 05.02.2021). 4 students + 2 accompanying persons from each partner school participated.

The online workshop focused on:

• • Learn about the municipal budget structure, participatory budgeting options, and writing mini-project applications to improve the town environment.

  • Work in mixed international teams.

  • Compete for the best application.

  • The vice-mayor of the town of Nový Jičín, the coordinator of participatory budgeting, attended the workshop.

DAY 1:

• Opening meeting: countries' videos screening, countries' Kahoots, re-created paintings - exhibition + voting the best.

• Teams' introductory session (in the teams' Padlets and GMeets), ice-breaking activities.

• Keynote webinar: Participatory Budgeting - speaker: Ondrej Syrovatka - the Vice-Mayor of Novy Jicin.

DAY 2:

• Get acquainted with the location (e.g., the Land Registry web, google maps - 3D walk, photos).

• Get acquainted with the project, brainstorm, discuss, and search for information/inspiration.

• Get acquainted with the documents (application, budget), filling in the application - the project's name, location description.

DAY 3:

• Fill in the project application.

• Fill in the budget.

• Get photos of the current state, and fill in the List of Supporters of the project.

DAY 4:

• Make a visualization inviting people to support the project - a poster / a website (using Canva and such).

• Prepare the presentation of the project for Friday common session (Gslides).

• Plan the presentation - who is going to do/say what, practice it, putting the final version of the presentation and all documents (application, budget, list of supporters, poster) on the team's padlet.

• Send the relevant documents (application, budget, and list of supporters) for registration to the municipality office.

DAY 5:

• Presentation session of all projects in the central meet.

• Online voting - all students, teachers, the Vice-Mayor Ondrej Syrovátka, Mrs. "Healthy Cities" Lucie Hrdličková, the Vice-Mayor comment on all 4 projects, announcement the winner, fill in the questionnaire of Happiness, and closing remarks.
