The violin is the highest pitched instrument in the string family. All string instruments come in fractional sizes, so if you choose the violin, you will get a small violin which is the perfect size for your body. Violin available to students in grades 3, 4, &5.
The viola is similar to the violin, but it is a little larger and can play lower notes. All string instruments come in fractional sizes, so if you choose the viola, you will get a small viola which is the perfect size for your body. Viola available to students in grades 3, 4, &5.
The cello is the lowest pitched string instrument you can learn to play in elementary school, and you have to sit down to play it. All string instruments come in fractional sizes, so if you choose the cello, you will get a small cello which is the perfect size for your body. Cello is available to students in grades 3, 4, &5.
The string bass is not an available option to learn in elementary school, but if you are interested in the bass, you should start learning to play the cello, which will set you up to switch to the bass when you are in middle school.
