1. REQUEST an official transcript (stamped and signed by principal) from the respective secondary school office (MEF IS or NS).
2. VIEW the UCAS video on how to complete the UCAS application (as per below).
3. CREATE an account on UCAS Apply 2020, following instructions in the UCAS video on how to "add school" including the UCAS number for MEF (TR077).
4. SELECT either MEF IS or MEF NS, as applicable.
5. VIEW the Application Sections (left side of screen): Personal Details; Choices; Education; Employment; Statement; View all details; Paid/Send; Help; Options.
6. CHECK "Help" section at each stage of the application or as required!
7. CHOOSE the universities where you will apply and the respective programmes (maximum = 5), with correct codes; you can apply to the same university for more than one programme, but the maximum is still 5 selections).
8. VIEW the "Education" video as per below. This is the section of the app that can be the most confusing. NOTE: Modules = Subjects!
9. SELECT the applicable qualifications. For MEF IS: "International Baccalaureate" and "Private High School Diploma (Turkey Lise Bitirme Diploması)"; for MEF NS only the latter. NOTE: MEF students could also include IGCSE as a qualification if would like to enter IGCSE exam scores.
10. ENTER modules (subjects) for each qualification, beginning with IB2 or Grade 12 respectively (MEF IS as per former = IB qualification; MEF NS as per latter = Turkey Lise Bitirme Diploması). For IB2 students this includes TOK and EE. From the drop-down menu, select "pending" for the grade received. For Grades 11 (including IB1), the subjects and grades will be entered under the Private High School Diploma (Turkey Lise Bitirme Diploması) qualification. When indicating subjects, students can enter the "Grades" for each module or subject from their transcripts. NOTE: "Grade" refers to level of achievement, not grade level.
11. COMPLETE the modules (subjects) for all grade levels from Grade 11, to Grade 10, and Grade 9 (including "grade" achieved).
12. SELECT the level of qualification from the drop-down section when finished entering all of the above details where you will see the following: "Select highest level of qualification you expect to have before you start your course". NOTE: Select "Below honours degree level qualifications".
FINAL NOTES:
- Check the Personal Statement video and samples provided by UCAS.
- Request reference letters from teachers (usually 2-3). NOTE: Only one reference letter can be uploaded by UCAS Adviser or teacher to student apps! {As per previous communications, you should complete the "Teacher Reference/Recommendation Letter" form (available from the CCD Office), giving to your referees at least 3 weeks prior to when you require it. Inform your #1 referee to send the reference letter to me and I will upload to your UCAS account.}
The College Counselor in the MEF CCD serves as the UCAS Adviser and will enter "IB predicted grades".
If you have any difficulty with your UCAS app, send an e-mail with details and requesting to schedule an appointment. Attend the meeting via Google meet on your laptop, so you can share your screen so that we can review your UCAS app together.
Be mindful of deadlines! If an early UCAS deadline (October 15th), you should have all aspects of your UCAS app finished by October 10th.
The final stage is when you pay the fee via credit card, at which time you need to request that the CCD office / Overseas College Counselor approves your app and sends it to UCAS. After it is sent, neither you nor the CCD can access it to change items, thus proof read it very carefully!
When UCAS receives your app, they will acknowledge as such and then send to the 5 universities you selected. Those institutions will then confirm receipt, and inform you of the next steps.
Ensure that your 5 selections include a "realistic" reach, as well as 1-2 safety choices, with others in between the two ranges as match choices.
Finally, all the very best and much success with your UK applications!
For further guidance, please email us for an appointment AFTER you have gone through all the information we've shared with you in GC and via email.
All the Best,
MEF CCD
