All MS & HS Science Olympiad teams are invited to the 6th Medford Science Olympiad Open Invitational Tournament for Divisions B & C, which will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Medford Area Senior High (MASH).
We’re inviting up to 20 Division B teams and 40 Division C teams. Teams registering after spaces are filled are not guaranteed a spot in the tournament and will be placed on a waiting list as space allows. Each school will be limited to four teams per division unless the cap of 20 B teams / 40 C teams is not filled by Monday, December 9.
Individual medals will be awarded to the top four varsity teams in each event in both divisions, with duplicate medals for JV teams finishing in the top four as well. Team trophies will be awarded to the top five performing varsity teams in both divisions. We will be awarding an Innovation Award to the team in each division that shows the most creative and effective new approaches to the event challenges, as voted on by the event supervisors.
A hospitality room will be available for all coaches, event supervisors, and bus drivers.
The fee for participating in the tournament is $100 per team. Teams that are new to Science Olympiad this year are exempt from this fee. If this cost is a hardship for any team, they are asked to contact Brad Paff, Tournament Director. Teams are asked to submit the registration form and a check made out to MASH Science Olympiad by the registration deadline of Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Any team that registers after the deadline is subject to a late fee of $25.
We ask that each team plan to provide an event supervisor. In most cases, this person will be responsible for gathering all materials for the event, writing the test, running and scoring the event. In some cases, the team volunteer may be able to serve as an assistant to an event supervisor. Schools that are new to Science Olympiad this year are exempt from the event supervision requirement, but are still welcome to volunteer if able. If you have questions or concerns please contact the tournament director. We hope to cover several events through Medford alumni, local experts, and state event supervisors, but we will need additional staffing from each team to help these events run as smoothly as possible.
We look forward to seeing you in January. Good luck with the start of a great Science Olympiad season!
