New Year's Update:
Event Supervisors: Please plan for a total of 30 Div. C teams, with up to 10 in a time block for tests/lab events. For self-schedule events, I have blocks tentatively capped at 6 teams per block.
For Div. B, plan on up to 16 teams total, with 8 per time block for tests/lab events, and up to 5 teams per block for the self-schedule events.
Trial Events: We've been asked to run a couple of trial events. Please encourage your team members to try these out. I have them set up as sign-up events so that you can plan when your team is available, and I encourage you to sign up for times if you can. We WILL also take walk-ins.
Protein Modeling is the first of these two trial events. Competing in this will give your team a sneak-peak at this event before it returns to the national event rotation next year. Given the short time frame, there will not be a pre-built protein for this tournament. Students will build a protein onsite and take a written test. See the attached rules for details.
Gene Regulation is the second trial event. This event was designed and written by a very passionate high school sophomore in the hopes of it becoming a national event at some point. This student reached out to see if we would help gather feedback on the event as part of the trial process. Please support this student's impressive effort by encouraging your students to try it out and provide feedback. Thanks! Rules are attached.
We've moved a few event locations (Fossils, Experimental Design, Disease Detectives, and Helicopters), which are highlighted on the updated team schedules. Most notable is the switch for Helicopters into a room with a slightly lower ceiling but much more flying space, as pictured.
Medford alumni: If you're around on break from college or living in the area and want to stop in during one of our team practices to prep your event materials, our upcoming practices are:
1/2: 6-8p
1/7: 6-8p
1/14: 6-8p
1/17: 8a-4p Inservice, stop in anytime
December 19th
My apologies for not confirming these sooner. Please look over the attached sheet on Event Supervision and then send me any necessary replies pertaining to the following:
If names of events supervisors are not listed or are not correct, please provide.
Will you need additional helpers for your event other than names already listed?
Are there any resources you need? We assume you're providing everything to run the event unless there is clear communication to the contrary.
Plan for up to 29 Div C teams and 15 Div B teams at present. There will not be more than 10 teams in any single time block.
Note: If you are writing a test please get it to me as soon as you have it complete in electronic form. I will be sharing all tests and keys with competing teams after the tournament. This also allows me to print the test and find a proctor in case of bad weather and/or an unexpected absence of an event supervisor.
For written test/lab events, I will plan on you printing your test/key/etc unless you let me know otherwise.
On your test, please include a cover sheet with:
Event name and division
Team name/number/division
Student names
Final raw score
(And other information as you see fit.)
For build events - I will have copies of the build event scoresheets available for you at check-in.
Event Rules: Please make every effort to run the event in full compliance with the official rules and clarifications, available here:
