TEEN-CERT

CERT is the Community Emergency Response Team program hosted by the City of Concord and the Concord Police Department.

Students volunteers in this program learn about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact Contra Costa County and their families. They train in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

Ygnacio Valley High School is entering its third year of the program and the second year with the program imbedded in to the EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) class.

This years TEEN-CERT Class 08/11/2025-09/27/2025

This is the second group of Senior Medics to have this class as part of their curriculum. We thank our host Ms. Trish, Concord P.D. and the City of Concord

Congratulations to the 2025-26 Ygnacio Valley High School TEEN CERT.

In its third year of existence sponsored by Concord Police Department. 3 Community Emergency Response Teams composed of Senior Medics from YV, represented the 34 Northern California High Schools that comprise California Region 2, from just south of San Jose to the Oregon border.

The competition was held in Ontario, California during the 2026 HOSA SLC (state leadership conference) was made up of teams from all over the state.

SM Patarroyo, Adrian; SM Vazquez, Ricardo

SMs Patarroyo and Vazquez, R. and Hernandez and Moala Robson moved on to the 2nd round of competition. While we did not make it through to internationals, it was a great privilege and pleasure to be a part of these future healthcare professionals journey.

Congratulations YV TEEN CERT on a job well done.

A special shout out to Mr. Alex Hernandez for stepping up and helping to make this happen and accompanying the Medics to Ontario.
