Tools and language to talk with students and faculty as we try to heal in 2020
Based on the work of the Founding Director of the Yale Center of Emotional intelligence, Dr. Marc Brackett, his book Permission to Feel: Unlocking the Power of Emotions to Help Our Kids, Ourselves and Our Society to Thrive, and a national Emotional Intelligence conference, I want to offer a few tools and a common language in this next transition. Not only will this help us cope with actually being in the physical space of school, but it can easily be applied to our classes to lessen the stress and anxiety in our students. As Dr. Shawn Ginwright tells us: let’s pivot from work, work, busy, rush, and frenzy to FLOW. There is also an app for your phone: the Mood Meter.
Use this time to check-in with each, refine your Learning Maps, share tech support, remind each other that this is a process and not everything has to be perfect before the start, and do whatever else your small team needs to do.

A flexible tool for designing learning sequences and scaffolding students interaction with the material, and best of all, for easily setting up peer feedback amongst the students.
Currently, we are recommending this tool for the structured feedback process it helps to frame. EduFlow is in transition from being a product called PeerGrade, which was exclusively focussed on peer-feedback. EduFlow is a more diverse tool set.
Teachers can use the free versions and if they feel that the toolset aligns more deeply with their learning environments, they can request funds for paid a paid version.
