Engineering

Architecture Technology

Campus Offered: East Brunswick

Architecture Drafting/CAD is designed to challenge students interested in architecture, building construction, computers, drawing, design and engineering.

Students translate design drawings into working drawings, manually or through the use of computer assisted drafting systems. They draw floor plans, elevations, sections and details of buildings, and design simple buildings.

Graduates are employed as drafters for Architects, Mechanical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers, Surveyors and Developers.

Civil / Mechanical Engineering Technology

Campus Offered: Edison Academy

This four-year program offers the student an opportunity to explore the areas of Civil and Mechanical Engineering Technology. The Civil Engineering curriculum offers students a practical overview of this dynamic discipline by examining the interrelated fields of structural, geo-technical, transportation and environmental engineering and construction management.

The Mechanical Engineering curriculum, which is combined with the Civil Engineering, encompasses the design of such diverse systems as missiles, power-plants, robots and machine tools. The spectrum of professional activity for the Mechanical Pre-Engineering graduate runs from research through design and development to manufacturing and sales. Because of their comprehensive training and education, Mechanical Engineers are often called upon to assume management positions.

Computer Assisted Drafting

Campus Offered: Perth Amboy, Piscataway

CAD technicians work with Engineers, Physicists, Architects, Surveyors and Builders. Utilizing computer assisted drafting systems; students learn how to translate ideas into working drawings.

In a high-tech CAD laboratory, students make and read sketches and drawings, they learn the principles of orthographic projection, and skills needed for technical, architectural, electrical, welding and piping drafting. Graduates enter a demanding labor market or pursue higher education.

Computer Systems Technology

Campus Offered: Perth Amboy, Piscataway

Students will develop the capabilities to design, construct, install and troubleshoot a range of computer systems and networks. Students are prepared candidacy as A+ Certified Technicians.

This program is offered at our Perth Amboy and Piscataway Campuses. Special academic requirements must be met in order to enroll. See a Guidance Counselor for further details.

Electronic / Computer Engineering Technology

Campus Offered: Edison Academy

The Electronic Engineering course introduces the student to a variety of topics including: power distribution, motors, generators and electronic engineering integrated circuits; digital and analog hardware; electromagnetic fields; and communications. Controls require the understanding and exploitation of electrical, electronic and magnetic phenomena.

The Computer Engineering course introduces the student to the knowledge of DC, AC semiconductor, operational amplifier and microprocessor theory and their applications in analyzing systems operations.

The course also includes a detail background of computer networking systems, hardware, software, and industry troubleshooting procedures.

Detailed knowledge of microprocessor, embedded controller, embedded processor, and operation of multiprocessor systems and relevant troubleshooting procedures are also covered.

Pre-Engineering & Manufacturing Technology

Campus Offered: East Brunswick

A program that prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to the identification and resolution of production problems in the manufacture of products.

Includes instruction in machine operations, production line operations, engineering analysis, systems analysis, instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electric, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, process control, robotics, automation, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), manufacturing planning, quality control, and informational infrastructure.
