At Montrose County School District, we are reimagining teaching and learning through a Mastery Learning system designed for greater clarity, consistency, accuracy, and fairness. Grounded in our Priority Standards and Proficiency Scales, this approach ensures every student knows what they are expected to learn, understands how to demonstrate their learning, and has multiple, purposeful opportunities to show growth. Mastery Learning empowers students to take ownership of their progress while helping teachers align instruction, assessment, and grading practices across the district—so that learning, not time, becomes the constant for every student.
