Our December 1st PLP Day continues the shared work we began together on November 3rd. The goal of this workshop is to give every secondary content area team structured time to deepen Mastery Learning implementation through the lens of their discipline, their school context, and our district-wide vision. This day is designed to strengthen clarity, coherence, and collaboration so that we are all moving toward the same high-quality system—one built on transparent learning expectations, aligned assessments, and equitable opportunities for every student.
All teams will begin the day by completing the review/revision of current Priority Standard Proficiency Scales and/or creation of new Proficiency Scales.
Core content areas will revise and refine existing scales, leaving comments where updates are needed and creating new scales if gaps are identified.
Elective content areas will focus on developing or improving their set of Proficiency Scales to ensure clarity of learning goals for students and teachers.
Teams should work on Proficiency Scales until they feel confident that their set of scales represents an effective “final draft” ready for shared use across the district.

Once scales are solidified, teams will select one priority area from the Mastery Learning Next Steps Menu to guide the remainder of their collaborative work (which will likely continue on February 3rd's PLP Day):
Each menu option includes guiding discussion questions and recommended resources to explore.
Every content area team has a Mastery Learning PLP 25-26 Folder—accessible from both the Content Area pages on this website and this December 1st PLP Day page. Teams should use these folders to create, store, and share all collaborative work created during the workshop.
Thank you for your continued collaboration and commitment to building a strong, coherent Mastery Learning system for all MCSD students!
At the end of the morning session, each content area team should submit one response to this Dec 1st PLP Day Content Area Team Update Google Form briefly describing the work you focused on and where your content area team wants to continue on February 2nd's PLP Day.
Lastly, please complete this Google Form Evaluation of today's PLP Workshop.
