Health/PE


HEALTH:

This is a required semester course on basic health education including: Multi-media first aid, nutrition, weight control, physical fitness, emotional and mental health, drug awareness, human sexuality, personal hygiene and communicable diseases. This is a one semester required course.


ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE TRAINING:

This course is a strength training and cardiovascular fitness class that will incorporate  conditioning programs starting as a freshman and runs through senior level.  Students will be strength training Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Students will concentrate on cardiovascular, speed, agility training, flexibility, core, and plyometrics exercises on Tuesday and Thursday. Students will pre- and post-test the Presidential Fitness Test. This course fulfills one credit of physical education requirement.


LIFETIME SPORTS: 

This semester course includes units of instruction in rules, skills, strategies, and fundamentals in football, soccer, basketball, volleyball,  strength(conditioning)and more during the first semester. The second semester there will be units taught in ping pong & badminton, shuffleboard, hockey, speed-ball, softball and mat ball. In addition, a varied menu of recreational and co-op games will be introduced throughout the year.  There will be skill tests and written tests in both semesters. We will pre and post test Presidential Fitness Test. This course fulfills one year of physical education requirement.
