MANCHESTER SCHOLARSHIPS
The Allen Vocational Training Scholarship: The Barry & Peggy Allen Vocational Training Scholarship is offered to a graduate who plans to pursue a career in a technical or vocational field. One Teacher Recommendation Form is required and must be completed by a teacher at SWWC, a teacher at MHS in a related vocational field, or an employer in a related vocational field.
Alumni Association Scholarship: The MHS Alumni Assoc. offers a variety of scholarships based on financial need, academic performance and participation and/or leadership in school and community activities. Recipients must attend the Alumni Banquet.
American Legion Scholarship: The Manchester American Legion Emil Jacob Post 117 offers this scholarship to students entering a trade or technical field. Based on high school academic performance and community service.
American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship: The candidate must be a child or grandchild of a veteran or active military personnel, a graduating senior from Manchester High School, and write a 200 word essay. Recipients must attend the Alumni Banquet.
Athletic Boosters Scholarship: This scholarship application must be printed off and completed.. Electronic versions are not available. Athlete's parent(s) must be a booster member by December 31st of the previous year. Must have completed a sport season by the end of senior year, in good standing, following the athletic and school code of conduct. Requires an evaluation from a coach and two teachers. Community Scholarship: Various organizations in the Manchester Community donate to this scholarship. Awards are based on academic performance, participation in activities during high school, and strength of essay.
Fuller Memorial Art Scholarship: The Austin Fuller Memorial Art scholarship is awarded to the graduating senior that is interested in pursuing a career in the Arts. Awards are based on participation in visual art classes and related activities during high school, intention to continue art education in college, financial need, three (3) examples of student’s visual art and essay.
Hagerman Scholarship: The Robert J. and Kathleen A Hagerman Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior with two or more years of community service (i.e. church, service groups, volunteer for school activities, Christmas in April, etc.). Students also must be planning to attend a college or trade school. A letter of recommendation from a community service leader is required.
Kleinschmidt Scholarship: The R.D. Kleinschmidt, Inc. scholarship provides financial assistance to a graduating senior who plans to pursue an education at a four year college, community college, or vocational/technical related program. A letter of recommendation from an employer OR one Teacher Recommendation Form is required.
Knights of Columbus Scholarship: The Manchester Knights of Columbus Council 4354 through St. Mary's Church offers a scholarship based on school and community involvement, as well as academic excellence. It is open to all students.
Lions Club Scholarship: The Manchester Lions Club offers this scholarship to a student who plans to attend a community college or technical school program in a health related field (e.g. nursing, optometry, pre-med, psychology, etc.)
Masonic Lodge #148 Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to a graduate who plans to pursue a career in a technical or vocational field.
MESPA Scholarship: The Manchester Education Support Personnel Association Scholarship is for students who have completed at least one year of vocational training through the South and West Washtenaw Consortium. Applicants must be accepted by a college or trade school related to their vocational class and must be planning on pursuing a career in that vocational field. TWO Teacher Recommendation Forms are required.
Nosbisch Memorial Scholarship: In memory of Manchester teacher, Mary Nosbisch, this scholarship is for students who have a minimum GPA of 2.0, plans to attend an accredited college or university. School and community involvement, as well as academic performance is strongly considered. Students must be able to write an essay describing why he/she is deserving of this scholarship, and why having a college education will help him/her develop as a person. One Teacher Recommendation Form is required.
Outstanding Student Scholarship: This scholarship is sponsored by former MHS student, Dr. Aaron LaRock. It is for a graduating senior who plans to attend college or a trade school, has a 3.0 GPA or higher, and is involved in multiple school activities, and has demonstrated community service. No names on applications ~ students will be issued a number when they turn in their apps. One Teacher Recommendation Form is required
Ray E. Wurster Memorial Scholarship: In remembrance of Mr. Ray Wurster, who was a Manchester crossing guard for many years. Must have 3.0 GPA, completed the FAFSA, demonstrate community service, and be going to a college or trade school. One Teacher Recommendation Form is required.
RoofmanUSA Scholarship: Roofman USA is a local, family run roofing company. They have been in business for three generations and have done thousands of roofing projects in the Manchester, Washtenaw County and surrounding areas. This scholarship is offered to a student who is striving for a dream career in an art, digital media, marketing or business field. Other related fields include, but are not limited to, graphic design, illustration, animation and industrial design. Must create and submit an ad for print or digital marketing.
Schaible Health Scholarship: Luther and Barbara Schaible are offering this scholarship to students entering a program in a health related field. Strong consideration is given to those who demonstrate academic excellence and community service. TWO Teacher Recommendation Forms are required.
Sharon Church, Jan M. Memorial Scholarship: The Jan M. Harris Memorial Scholarship is a Faith Based scholarship that requires an essay about your Faith and a transcript.
Spartan Scholarship: The Spartan Scholarship was created in 2020 by Manchester High School and Michigan State University alum Carol Westfall and her husband, Lon Nordeen. Manchester High School graduating seniors who have been accepted to Michigan State University and have a minimum GPA of 2.0 are eligible to apply for this Spartan Scholarship. One Teacher Recommendation Form is required.
Stand up Spirit Scholarship: In memory of Manchester teacher, Gay Thatcher. Applicants must be accepted by an accredited college or university. Essay topics including being able to demonstrate recognition and practice of sound work ethics, a willingness to serve his/her community, and an awareness and practice of good health habits. Financial need will be considered and students must submit their Student Aid Report (SAR) from their FAFSA. One Teacher Recommendation Form is required.
Tower Scholarship: Any senior, with a 2.5 GPA or above, and attending college in the fall is eligible to apply. Awards given based on essay topics such as, "What do you want to do after you leave high school, how will your life be different, and what impact do you want to make on society?" A list of high school activities, jobs, hobbies and interests is required.
Vlcek Memorial Scholarship: The Faith Vlcek Memorial Scholarship is available to Manchester High School students who have wrestled. Recipients are awarded based on the essay, "What has wrestling meant to me?"
Wrestling Club Scholarship: The Manchester Wrestling Club Scholarship is offered to senior, who has wrestled for a minimum for four years throughout his/her life. Must be accepted to a college, university, or trade school. Essay topic: "How has the sport of wrestling impacted you?" No names on application/essay. Office staff will issue application numbers upon submission.
TEACHER RECOMMENDATION FORM: If your scholarship requires a Teacher Recommendation Form, please send the digital form by email requesting the recommendation from the teacher. They can then use Kami, to fill out and sign the form digitally. Once this is complete, upload it into your application.
