Classes of 2027 and 2028, consider looking for opportunities now as many have open applications through spring of 2026 for opportunities that start either Summer of 2026 or Fall 2026.

Holy Cross Internship

Holy Cross Hospitals in Silver Spring and Germantown are currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year. If you are interested in applying to either location, please view the information about the position and requirements here. You must be a rising senior (class of 2027 to apply).

If you are interested in applying, please read the requirements in their entirety and view the information link here. Applications will close at 12:00 pm on Tuesday March 31st. Suggestion would be to apply prior to March 27th, before leaving for spring break. If you have questions, please see Ms. Gustin in room 1201.

American Pool - We have Lifeguard opportunities
Holy Cross Health - Healthcare, hospitality, IT, Audio/Visual, any many more opportunities; school-year internships (applications open for the month of March)
Mater Amoris Montessori School - Early Childhood Education, Animal Care, Child Care, Facilities Management. We have a current openings for internships, we have a very part-time paid position open for child care on our half days. We may have summer opportunities available as well.

Application Steps

MCPS no longer offers a "half day schedule". This has been in effect since 2023-2024 school year. If you are interested in an abbreviated schedule, you will need to apply for the Internship or Apprenticeship Program. You will need to apply through completing the Student Interest Form (open May 1st, 2026).

Steps look a little different depending on Internships and Apprenticeships. Please be sure to review the Internship and Apprenticeship pages for specific information.

Looking for an Internship or Apprenticeship

The best way to begin is through a search of high school available Internships and Apprenticeship opportunities starting January through March. A google search or checking out the Navigator System could be a great place to start. You can also view this list of opportunities here. But you need to do some homework and prepare your Resume. You can look at Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia Locations.

The Internship and Apprenticeship is an opportunity for you to learn while still in High School what the world of work can look like for you. You may use a job you currently have or search out new opportunities to learn while working. Building your network and gaining valuable experiences along the way. Attendance at the workshops is REQUIRED and part of your grade. If you miss a workshop that week, please contact Ms. Gustin. More information about meetings, workshops and procedures for your internship or apprenticeships will be held during orientation (first week of the semester).

Internship and Apprenticeship grades are weighted grades, so your participation not only in your Internship and Apprenticeship duties, but also the workshops is required. You will need to attend all workshops, And some may contain guest speakers. See the calendar that was shared and is available on our Canvas Page. Be sure to communicate with your mentor that you will need to attend this workshop and that you may be late that day. Workshops may be held during 5th period, Lunch, 6th period or 7th period.

Workshop dates and other information will be posted in Canvas, they are also emailed to all participants. Please check your email often for more updates.
