Ensembles

Treble Chorus

The Treble chorus is made up of seventh and eighth grade girls who meet daily, all year long. Students rehearse in grade level classes. Students will sing a variety of repertoire including classical, folk and world music. Students develop sight-reading skills, vocal technique and learn about music history. The Treble Chorus competes at county, state and interstate competitions.

Young Men’s Chorus

The Young Men’s Chorus is made up of seventh and eighth grade boys with both changed and unchanged voices. They meet as one class daily, all year long. Students develop sight-reading skills, vocal technique and learn about music history. Students will sing a variety of repertoire including classical, folk and world music. The Young Men’s Chorus competes at county, state and interstate competitions.

General Music/Arts Rotation Chorus

Currently, sixth graders who are signed up for Arts Rotation will be registered for General Music during this rotation. This is a Chorus Class rotation for all students.They meet daily for one quarter through their arts rotation. Students will sing a variety of repertoire including classical, folk and world music and will develop sight-reading skills, vocal technique and learn about music history. Students are given the opportunity to perform at the Westland Winter and Spring Choral Concerts and attend the Bush Garden Music Festival.

Chamber Singers

The Chamber Singers is made up of sixth through eighth grade boys and girls who meet once a week as an after-school-activity. Chamber Singers perform at the Winter and Spring Choral Concerts and compete at interstate competitions. Students will sing a variety of repertoire including classical, folk and world pieces.

Soloist and Accompaniment Opportunities

Through auditions and selection, students are given opportunities to perform solo work. Advanced pianists and musicians are given opportunities to accompany different ensembles at our concerts and competitions.
