Adam Solomon, senior trumpet

From youth orchestras to jazz jam sessions, music has been integral to Adam Solomon's life. Music, specifically jazz improvisation, instilled in him the importance of mindfulness, listening, and living in the moment. He was recently selected as first chair trumpet in the All-Eastern Band (Classical) and first chair trumpet in the Maryland All State Jazz Band. He plans to double major in Jazz Studies and Economics at the University of Michigan in the fall.

Jasmine Gong, junior percussion

Jasmine joined the Wootton marching band in eighth grade: first a marimba player, then a snare drummer, and now the drum major. She has also explored music in other forms: performing in all-county, state, and eastern ensembles, composing for school events, or teaching lessons to percussion students. Jasmine is the Vice President of Tri-M and has enjoyed leading the drumline to their various performances.

Daniel Lee, junior alto saxophone

Daniel exhibits his dedication to the Arts with playing the Alto Saxophone in Concert Bands. Over the course of the 2020-2021 school year, he has earned placement in selective ensembles such as the NAfME All-Eastern Band, Maryland Senior All-State Band, and the MCPS Senior Honors Band. He also gives back to his community by serving as a music tutor, and YouTube Educational Presenter for the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Do Re Mi Project.

Benjamin exhibits his dedication to music and cello playing, as he is involved in youth orchestra and was accepted into All State. All Eastern recognizes his contributions and achievements in this area.

Eunice Ok, senior bass clarinet


Eunice has exhibited her love and dedication to the Wootton Music Department by contributing many after school hours to the marching band. She has also expanded her horizons past Wootton by participating in PVYO, MCPS Honors Band, and the All-Eastern Band.


Jackson Bernal, sophomore alto saxophone


Jackson Bernal was part of the 2021 All-County Senior band, along with the 2021 All-State Senior band and orchestra. He is part of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra Youth fellowship. Jack placed 3rd in the regional Ross-Roberts competition. This summer, Jack will take part in the National Youth Orchestra 2.

Sharon Lee, sophomore flute

Sharon exhibits her love and dedication to the Arts in Music, earning a seat in county and state ensembles. She has also made it into an extracurricular ensemble this year, PVYO Philharmonia, in addition to many others over the years. She will continue her love and passion for playing flute throughout her high school years and beyond.

Jason Lee, sophomore oboe

Jason plays the oboe and audition and earned 1st chair in the Maryland All State Band.

Sara Bock, sophomore clarinet

Sara Bock exhibits her perseverance and dedication to music through her time in honors ensembles. In the past year, she has been selected for Boston University's Tanglewood Institute, the first chair clarinet of the Maryland Senior All State Band, and the Clarinet Academy of America.

Maggie Chen, senior clarinet

Throughout the years, Maggie has been active in many musical ensembles, including county band, all state band, and the school pit orchestra. Aside from clarinet, Maggie also enjoys playing the piano.

Tara Wasik, sophomore bassoon

Tara Wasik devotes her time and efforts into playing the Bassoon to produce colorful, expressive, and alluring music. Among her achievements include participation in Maryland's All State Band, the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra's (MCYO) Philharmonic, and the Montgomery County Honors Band.

Claire Du, junior tenor saxophone

Claire exhibits intense passion and talents in music performances. Being a member of all county band for 3 years and the 2021 All State band alto sax principal chair, she demonstrates her achievements in this area. Her interest and contributions in music are also shown by the participation in school marching band as the section leader, and weekly saxophone tutoring for elementary and middle school students.

Max Li, junior euphonium

Max Li shows his dedication to the arts by playing baritone. He plays with passion to produce moving, beautiful music. His participation in the Maryland All-State Band and the Montgomery County Honors Band highlights his achievements in music.

Stacy Sun, sophomore bass clarinet

Stacy illustrates her love and dedication to the Performing Arts, participating in MCPS Honors Band and All State Band. She is striving continuously to make music that is meaningful and plans to pursue music throughout her high school years at Wootton.

Anderson Bernal, sophomore bass

This year, double bassist Anderson Bernal was chosen for the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra's Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also selected for the Montgomery County Public Schools Senior Honors Orchestra, and placed as principal bassist in the Maryland Senior All-State Orchestra. This summer, Anderson will being participating in the Sphinx Performance Academy, a national, scholarship program at Julliard.

Darae Kang, junior violin

Darae Kang- This year, I got the opportunity to participate in Senior All County Orchestra. Although we did not have rehearsals, I also auditioned and made it into Senior All State Orchestra. Other than that, I received a superior rating in the State Solo Ensemble.

Amy He, senior viola

Amy He exhibits her love and dedication to music, participating in various orchestral ensembles throughout her time in high school. She has been active in the Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra for several years as both a violin and a viola player. She is also a member of the MCPS Honors Orchestra and the Maryland All-State Orchestra.

Jeanne Kim, junior violin

Jeanne exhibits her passion and dedication to classical music through her participation in orchestra, ensembles, and competitions. She has been accepted to Maryland All State every year since 2017, is currently co-concertmaster of American Youth Philharmonic and part of National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellowship Chamber Program, and has won 2nd place in the Charleston International Music Competition. Additionally, she loves to play at nursing homes and hospitals to give back to the community.

Brian Kim, junior violin

Brian is a junior and has auditioned and been selected many years for the Maryland All-State Orchestra playing the viola. Brian also plays in outside musical organizations as well as Wootton's Chamber Orchestra.


Julianne Yao, sophomore cello

Julianne plays the cello in area music ensembles and auditioned and was accepted into the Maryland All-State Senior Orchestra playing the cello this year.

Carma Ghorab, freshman flute

Carma exhibits her love and dedication to the Arts through her participation in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras and the Potomac Valley Youth Orchestras, of which she is the principal flutist of the PVYO Symphony and in Wootton's Symphonic Winds.

Charles Liddle, freshman clarinet

Charles exhibits his love and dedication to the Arts through the participation in the Metropolitan Jazz Academy of Music, MCPS Junior Honors Band and Junior All-State Band.

James Chen, freshman tenor sax

James Chen exhibits his love and dedication through the musical arts in band through his achievement of a position in the Honors and All State bands.

Natalie Min, freshman horn

Throughout the year, Natalie has shown dedication to french horn and band in the times of the pandemic. By creating videos and attending online orchestra rehearsals, she has participated in helping to create several online performances. She is being recognized in playing and contributing to MCYO Symphony, MCPS Honors Band, and Maryland All-State.

Annie Jung, freshman oboe

Annie was selected for the Junior Maryland All State Band for the oboe. She placed first chair for her section, which recognized her musical talent and skill. Annie was also selected as a third place winner at the International Grande Music Competition, in recognition to an outstanding performance on the contemporary piece, Six Metamorphoses after Ovid, Movements 1-3.

Jerry Du, freshman clarinet

Jerry Du exhibits his love and dedication to the Arts in Music; performing works from various genres in front of live audiences.

Viktor Lebhar, freshman clarinet

In the year of 2020-2021, Viktor successfully auditioned for the All State Band in Maryland. He has earned recognition for his clarinet skills from many musical professionals and has expanded his musical register to include many different genres from classical music to jazz.

Jireh Kim, freshman trumpet

Jireh has been playing trumpet for over 6 years. She was the principal trumpet player of Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras (MCYO) Young Artists at Strathmore, a member of MCYO Symphony, was in the Maryland Junior All-State Band during 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. She was a soloist in her All-County band (7th and 8th grade), was a member of her Junior County Jazz Ensemble, and consistently received a superior rating at her county and state solo festival.

Carolyn Fu, freshman violin

Carolyn exhibits her love and dedication to the Arts in Orchestra and Violin-playing; often practicing to play beautiful and meaningful pieces. Carolyn has played in the all-state orchestra several years and hopes to continue to do so each year in high school.

Evan Bian, freshman violin

Evan plays the violin in area music ensembles and auditioned and was accepted into the Maryland All-State Junior Orchestra playing the violin this year.

Amy exhibits her love and dedication to the Arts in Music. She has made All state, and MCYO Chamber Ensemble.

Alice plays the viola and violin in area music ensembles and auditioned and was accepted into the Maryland All-State Junior Orchestra playing the viola this year.

Ethan plays the cello in area music ensembles and auditioned and was accepted into the Maryland All-State Junior Orchestra playing the cello this year.

Jai Ahuja, freshman bass

Jai Ahuja's determination in the musical arts is shown through his incessant involvement in musical extra-curriculars. He is the bassist in MCYO's Chamber Ensemble, and was selected to be in the All-County Orchestra and the All-State Orchestra. He was also offered admission into the prestigious Interlochen Fine Arts Summer Program.

Kevin An, freshman bass

Kevin exhibits his love and dedication to music to produce personal, meaningful work. He made the MMEA junior all-state orchestra, the Montgomery County Jr honors orchestra, and MCYO Symphony.

Allison exhibits her love and dedication to the Arts in music. MCPS Honors Band and PVYO recognizes her contributions and achievements in this area.


Nathan Pak, junior trumpet

Nathan exhibits his dedication to instrumental music through his participation in the 2019 and 2020 MCPS Honors Band. His participation in the state and national winning 2018 and state winning 2019 Wootton Marching Band also conveys his contributions and achievements in this area.


Margarita Williams, sophomore euphonium

Margarita shows her passion to the Arts in Wind Ensemble, as well as in the MCPS Honors Band, where she works with her fellow musicians to produce wonderful music. She hopes to continue playing and improving upon her skills as a musician.

Sebastian exhibits his love for the arts through music, playing drums and percussion to make meaningful sounds. The acceptance and participation in the MCPS Honors Band recognizes his contributions and achievements in this area.

Emily exhibits her love and dedication to the Arts through Music while playing the flute. MCYO Young Artists recognizes her contributions and achievements in this area.


Joanne Fan, freshman flute

Joanne exhibits her love and dedication to the Arts in Music. She plays the flute to express her passion for music through meaningful performances.

Some of her contributions and achievements in this area include Co-principal flutist of the MCYO Symphony orchestra 2020-2021, 1st prize winner for the 2020 GCC International Music Competition - The Masters of Winds Concerto, 1st prize winner for the 2020 GCC International Music Competition - the Music of the Centuries - The Music of the 19th Century, Winner of the 2020 PVYO Concerto Competition, 2nd Place for the 2020 YMIC Metropolitan Music Festival competition, 2nd Place for the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Student Honors Competition, and 3rd Place for the 2021 City of Gaithersburg Young Artist Award.

Ashton Sun exhibits his devotion and passion to the Arts in Music; often engaging and discovering new means to elevate and increase performance. The MCPS Honors Band and Superior score in the Spring Solo & Ensemble Festival recognizes his contributions and achievements in music.

Amy has showcased her dedication and commitment to music ever since elementary school. She finds a passion and certain love for the instrument she plays. Participating in Honors Band and MCYO, she hopes to achieve more in the future.
