Adam Solomon, senior
Superintendent's Fine Arts Award - Band
From youth orchestras to jazz jam sessions, music has been integral to Adam Solomon's life. Music, specifically jazz improvisation, instilled in him the importance of mindfulness, listening, and living in the moment. He was recently selected as first chair trumpet in the All-Eastern Band (Classical) and first chair trumpet in the Maryland All State Jazz Band. He plans to double major in Jazz Studies and Economics at the University of Michigan in the fall.
Superintendent's Fine Arts Award - Choral Music
Aidan has shown his passion and dedication to the arts at Wootton as a 4 year member and current student leader of Wootton Acappella, a dedicated theater performer, both curricularly and extracurricularly, and member of the Humanities and Arts Signature Program. He is planning to major in music composition at the University of Maryland this fall. The Superintendent's Fine Arts Award in Choral Music recognizes Aidan's many contributions and achievements at Wootton in this area.
U. S. Army Young Artist Competition, Honorable Mention
Jessica was a violinist of Wootton's Chamber Orchestra and the MCYO Philharmonic, which took part in various projects that combined various mediums of art to keep orchestral music and storytelling alive during the pandemic. In addition, she also achieved Honorable Mention in the U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition and was a finalist in the Concerto Competition at the Landon School, the latter of which provided the valuable opportunity to perform as a soloist with a string orchestra.
The Wootton High School Band and Orchestras were very well represented in the various Music Honor Ensembles such as All Eastern, All State, and MCPS Honor Ensembles. Please click here to see our student's accomplishments.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Ipe and Jason Wang for being accepted as members of the Maryland All-State Chorus and to Elizabeth Ipe for additionally being accepted as a member of the All-Eastern Chorus. Additionally, congrats to Jacob Kaplan-Davis and Elizabeth Ipe for their acceptance in the Montgomery County Youth Chorus.
