Create avenues for parents, teachers, and students to voice their needs and concerns
Alex-President of SGA and Black Student Union came to PTSA meetings and share their perspectives
Generated a survey which rendered 18 responses from staff
As a result of the survey, teachers were provided w/supplies & building repairs are in progress
Supply items for the “Free Store”
Donated and facilitated the Winter package distribution
Support teachers' needs and host staff appreciation events
Hosted Staff appreciation luncheon in December
Counselors were given thank you cards and $25.00 visa gift cards for Counselor Appreciation Week
Hosted Staff appreciation luncheon May 3rd and all 200 staff members received small tokens of appreciation
Purchased thank you cards for students to give staff along with posting yard signs to show appreciation
Host After Prom Party
After Prom Committee hosted a very successful and safe After Prom at Terp Zone with approximately 200 kids present
Donated $700 to seniors who could not afford Prom tickets
Raised approximately $1,400.00 for After Prom
Award student scholarships to cover both Trade Schools and/or College
Nicole Brown (Internship Coordinator) along with 2 Student Scholars and Tammy Patterson (College Career Center) presented at PTSA
Supported College Decision Day with different colored beads
Donated $1,800 in scholarships to seniors for college book costs
Donated $2,500.00 in scholarships to 5 students for college
Supported the Senior Breakfast on May 31st
Other Accomplishments:
Set-up Google Form and PayPal payment system to facilitate increasing membership to 90 members
Members received regular updates to get them involved and keep them informed.
Sheneisia (9th grader) created PTSA logo
Donated funds towards school Beautification project
Amazon Smile ongoing fundraiser and hosted Panera Bread and Ledo’s fundraisers
Guest Speakers: Community Engagement Officer Taft, Sandra Landis presented on “Teenage Sleep and Health-Reasons for Changing MCPS Middle and High School Start Times” and Hope McGuire presented on Wellness and Safety Improvements
