Courses

All students must complete:

• 3 Higher Level (HL) courses

• 3 Standard Level (SL) courses (you may take a 4th HL instead of a 3rd SL)

• Theory of Knowledge/Extended Essay 

• a CAS project

Conditions for the Award of the Diploma

The minimum number of points needed to get the Diploma is 24.If you receive 24 or more points (up to 45), you will receive the IB Diploma provided all the following requirements have been met:

• Numeric grades (as opposed to an “N”) have been awarded in all six subjects registered for the IB diploma.

• All CAS requirements have been met.

• Grades A to E have been awarded for both Theory of Knowledge and an Extended Essay, with a grade of at least D for both of them.

• There is no grade 1 in any subject.

• There are no more than two grade 2s awarded.

• There are no more than three grade 3s or below awarded.

• At least 12 points have been gained on Higher Level subjects.

• At least 9 points have been gained on Standard Level subjects.

Core

• TOK - Extended Essay A/B (Juniors)

• Theory of Knowledge 1 & 2 (Seniors) - only 1st Semester is required for seniors

• Creativity, Activity, & Service (Non-Classroom based)

Group 1 - Language and Literature

• English A: Language and Literature 1 & 2 HL 

  • You MUST take English at the HL

Group 2 - Language Acquisition

• Spanish B ab initio, SL, HL

• French B ab initio, SL, HL

• Italian ab initio (SL)

Group 3 - Individuals and Societies

• History 1 & 2 HL

  • If you do not take IB History you must take Honors/AP Modern World History to satisfy graduation requirements

  • Year 2 options, History of Asia and Oceania or History of Africa and the Middle East

• Global Politics SL

• Psychology SL

• Environmental Systems and Societies SL

  • Also counts as a Group 4 class

Group 4 - Sciences

• Biology 1 & 2 HL 

  • Satisfies NGSS Life Science OR NGSS Earth Space Aligned Graduation Requirement

• Chemistry 1 & 2 HL

  • Satisfies NGSS Physical Science OR NGSS Earth Space Aligned Graduation Requirement

• Environmental Systems and Societies SL

  • Also counts as a Group 3 class

  • Satisfies NGSS Earth Space Aligned Graduation Requirement

• Computer Science 1 & 2  SL/HL

  • Satisfies Technology Education Graduation Requirement

Group 5 - Mathematics

• Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches 1 & 2 HL

• Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches 1 & 2 SL

• Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation SL 

Group 6 - Arts/Elective

• IB Visual Arts 1 & 2 SL/HL

  • Satisfies Arts Graduation Requirement

• IB Theatre 1 & 2 SL/HL

  • Satisfies Arts Graduation Requirement

• IB Advanced Music SL/HL

  • Students are required to attend IB Music Bootcamps and register for a music ensemble course along with IB Music

• You may take any Group 3 or Group 4 instead of an Arts course
