Message from PTA President

GREETINGS FROM THE PTA PRESIDENT

Hello RPMS families! I hope you are enjoying your summer and are looking forward to the upcoming school year.

My name is Melissa Ladd, and I’m excited to be serving as president of the PTA for 2020-2021! My family has been part of the Rosa Parks Middle School community for four years and have loved the experiences that this wonderful school has to offer.

In the past five months, we have faced challenges that we have never before encountered. While this school year will be quite different than any other before, we remain committed to our mission. The goal of the PTA is to enhance the educational experience of our children in three areas: Family Engagement, Health and Safety, and Multi-Cultural Arts in Education. The entire Rosa Parks PTA is looking forward to working with you as we collaborate with the amazing Rosa Parks’ staff for another fabulous school year.

On behalf of the Rosa Parks PTA Board we would like to invite you to take a look at the attached membership drive invitation, fill it out, and get involved right away.

Here are a few ways you can be a part of the Rosa Parks’ community:

1. Join the PTA: the membership will buy you up to two adult memberships, an on-line directory of students and parent contact information, and voting rights. See attached on how to sign up online! These numbers have helped us move our needs forward with the county council and school board in the past; there is power in numbers.

2. Give to the Dolphin Donations Campaign to defer the costs of programs for our students and their families as well as help fulfill the school’s “wish list”. This campaign allows us to support our school without the overwhelming feeling of fundraising constantly.

3. Volunteer to support our school community. While we are still uncertain about what in-person programming we can offer, we will strive to find creative ways to engage our community.

4. Stay Connected: We are excited to continue to offer our PTA website. Visit the website to join the PTA and find out about upcoming events.

Whether your child is new to middle school or going into 8th grade this year, you know how quickly the time goes by. As parents we work to balance giving our children responsibility and independence, while continuing to support and encourage them. If we work together, we can make the 2020-2021 a wonderful year for the whole Rosa Parks Middle School community. Please reach out to us with any questions, concerns or suggestions you may have.

RPMS will use MemberHub this year to keep you informed and engaged with school happenings. We’ll start by sending PTA newsletters to all school families!

Within our MemberHub site, you will find newsletters, signup sheets, shared calendar events, files, photos, reminders, and much more all in one place!

With MemberHub you can:

● Buy your PTA membership, spirit wear, and more online.

● Sign up for volunteer opportunities and receive reminders.

● Receive emails and/or texts with communications from all levels of your school.
