Hello, my name is Emily Baty and I have been an ESOL teacher at Rosemary Hills for the last five years. My favorite thing about working with Kindergartners is their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. We have fun singing songs, playing games, and making new friends.
As an ESOL educator, I look forward to getting our kindergarten students excited about learning! TOGETHER, we will grow and flourish emotionally, socially, and academically.
The HLS, which is found on the New Student Information form, is used only for determining whether a student needs English language support services and will not be used for immigration matters or reported to immigration authorities. If a language other than English is indicated on two of the three questions below, the student will be assessed for English language support services.
Additional criteria for testing may be considered.
What language(s) did the student first learn to speak?
What language does the student use most often to communicate?
What language(s) are spoken in your home?
The Kindergarten WIDA ACCESS placement test (KWAPT) is an English language proficiency screener test given to Kindergarteners, who speak another language, to determine eligibility for ESOL services.
As ESOL teachers, we work with students whose first language is not English. We help students build academic language proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking across all content areas. We provide small group support inside and outside of the classroom to help students achieve success both academically and emotionally.
We use grade-level curriculum to provide English language development instruction that aligns to what the students are working on in their classrooms. We focus on the language skills necessary for students to access the material.
