College Visits
From RMHS to your future campus.
All students are welcome to attend college visits in the College & Career Center; however, priority is given to juniors and seniors. Freshmen and sophomores must receive prior approval from Ms. Whitehurst before attending. To attend a college visit, students must also get permission from their teacher, and it is the student's responsibility to make up any missed classwork. Benefits of attending college rep visits include:
Sign up for a visit via Naviance — click here for detailed instructions on how to accomplish this.
Meeting your admissions contact — often times, the same person reviewing your application
Learning detailed information about academic programs, campus life, and financial aid
Gaining insight on fee waivers that may be available for applications
College rep visits are a great way to make personal connections, explore your options, and gain insight that can help you make informed decisions about your future.
Before you register, take a moment to reflect on the following: Does the college offer your desired major? Can you afford to miss class on that day to attend? How many visits have you already made this week?
The list of colleges that will be visiting RM are listed below!
How to prepare for College Visits
Preparing for a college visit to your high school is an excellent opportunity to get firsthand information and make a positive impression. Here are some tips to make the most out of the visit:
Research the College: Before the visit, familiarize yourself with the college’s programs, campus culture, and admission requirements. This will help you ask informed questions and demonstrate genuine interest.
Prepare Questions: Write down a list of questions you want to ask the college representative. Consider inquiring about academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and opportunities for internships or study abroad. Here are some Questions You Can Ask a College Representative
Bring Necessary Materials: Have a notebook and pen ready to jot down important information. If you have a resume, consider bringing a copy in case there's an opportunity to share it.
Attend with Purpose: Make sure to attend the session with an open mind and readiness to engage in conversation. Listen actively and participate in discussions.
By preparing thoughtfully, you can gain valuable insights and make a meaningful connection with the college representative, setting the stage for your future college journey.
