This year, we are thrilled to introduce a school-wide Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) initiative. By focusing on monthly SEL topics, we aim to build a positive school culture where students share a common language for emotional growth and communication. This consistent approach ensures that values like empathy and respect are woven into the fabric of our daily lives.
A key part of this strategy is our new daily Huddle Time. This is a high-impact morning routine designed to foster an inclusive climate and help students self-regulate, reducing interruptions and setting a calm tone for academic learning. We will be utilizing the Be Good People curriculum to guide these lessons, providing our community with actionable tools to thrive both personally and academically.
Family Connection & Home Activities
The schedule below outlines our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) monthly themes, skills and values we will explore throughout the school year. We are excited to partner with you to support your child's emotional growth! Each month, we will send home a one-page "Family SEL Flyer" in both English and Spanish. These flyers include a look at our monthly focus, key vocabulary to use at home, and discussion questions to spark meaningful conversations and solidify connections between school and family environments.
