local community mental health resources

Below you will find organizations and mental health professionals that can support students and families with their mental health concerns. Some of them do not require health insurance or can work with you. If you need support in finding resources, please contact your school counselor for information. 

Individual and group therapy services information. Parenting tools as well. 


Provides immediate access to specialized, comprehensive mental health care. Offers several treatment plans for individuals through partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs. 

Specializes in supporting African-American and first generation people in various racial ethnic groups through various counseling treatment approaches. 

This is a private treatment center. Their services are provided through individual, group, and family therapy. In addition, we provide professional training, consultation services, and public outreach as core aspects of our shared mission.

Supports people living with mental health and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders to live, work and integrate successfully within the community providing resources.


Team of experts dedicated to serving the various complex mental health needs of diverse clients and communities regardless of age, gender, disabilities, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. They do take Medicare. 

(founded as Hospice Caring in 1989) serves children, adults and families facing life-threatening illness and experiencing the death of a loved one within Montgomery County. 

Counseling services provided to youth, and families within the community. If you need support financially for services, please reach out to your school counselor for a referral to their services. 

Identity youth has various programs, and supports for youth that are at-risk academically and/or economic life outcomes in high poverty areas of Montgomery county. Their supports include counseling services, assistance with GED/high school diploma, workforce development and immigration support.  

This is a family centered mental health program that offers a wraparound approach to treatment. Psychiatry, Medication Management, Counseling & Therapy, PRP services, Substance Use Intensive Outpatient services, and Psychiatric Crisis Services are offered.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation.

We help children, youth and adults rebuild their emotional lives after loss, illness, violence and trauma. Organization providing grief/trauma support within the DMV area.

This organization builds a community of peers to provide support, education and advocacy for all affected by mental health. They provide many supports, and resources for the community. 

The Psychology Clinic offers year-round, sliding-fee scale services for children, adolescents, and adults in the suburban Maryland and greater Washington DC metro area.

This program provides information and referral, advocacy, crisis and ongoing counseling, support and compensation services for victims of crimes committed in Montgomery County or crime victims who live in Montgomery County. 

Their Healing Services share a collective goal…to create unity and resilience of body, mind, spirit and to start you on a path to healing. Their practitioners offer a variety of approaches, and many have developed mastery in specialized areas.
