Course Description: Gaithersburg High School Concert Chorus is developed to offer students a wide variety of vocal and musical opportunities. Students will develop a foundation of music theory, sight singing, rhythm reading, composition, and vocal performance and will apply these skills to real-world situations and learning contexts. Students will be given the opportunity to perform not only in a large choral ensemble, but also in small ensembles, and solo performances. Students will demonstrate their musical abilities at five concerts throughout the school year, as well as in the Montgomery County Public Schools Festival competition in the spring. Extracurricular activities are available to all choral students including: All-State Choir auditions, MCYC auditions, and a spring field trip.
Course Requirements: Students are expected to act in a professional and respectful manner towards their teacher, their peers, and themselves at all times. Students required to:
Arrive to class promptly and ready to learn
Be prepared for class every day with a good attitude and up-to-date materials (this includes music and a pencil)
Demonstrate respect, kindness, and professionalism during the class time
Keep a weekly practice log
Complete all homework/class work assignments in a timely fashion
Notify Ms. Bailey if they are to miss a rehearsal or class period (by email or phone)
Be prepared to have fun and make music!
Materials: Students will need the following materials in order to participate in chorus class:

Pencil (everyday)
Choir Uniform (concert black, choir t-shirt)
