Vision

The Gaithersburg High School choral program is a community that promotes a respectful and responsible environment, embraces and celebrates our multicultural backgrounds, provides an engaging and rigorous academic program, provides opportunities for ALL stakeholders to achieve to their fullest potential.

Mission

The Gaithersburg community fulfills our vision through the development and implementation of the MCPS Code of Conduct, by the inclusion of multicultural topics in instruction, assemblies, evening events, and professional development, by implementing and monitoring a rigorous instructional program that provides success for all students, by building stakeholder capacity through collaboration and communication in the classroom, during school meetings, and at evening events, and by regularly scheduled monitoring of the school improvement action plan.

Choral Department Mission Statement

+As a music educator at Gaithersburg High School, it is the mission of the Choral Department to support the vision of the school by:

+Promoting a respectful and responsible environment at all times.

+Embracing and celebrating our multicultural backgrounds through the selection and performance of world music, folk music, and popular music that represents the diversity of Gaithersburg High School students

+Providing cultural education and performance of musical styles and forms previously unknown to the student body to provide a well-rounded musical education.

+Providing engaging and rigorous curriculum through performance (written and aural), musical composition/creation, and group collaboration.

+Providing opportunities for ALL stakeholders to achieve their fullest potential through both in-school elective programs, after school supplemental music offerings, field trips, performances, and competitions.
