Our Purpose

The EMS Green Team is working together to improve sustainability and energy efficiency at Eastern Middle School!

Our Maryland Green School Application has been APPROVED, Eagle Nation. We are officially a Maryland State Green School! Thank you to all the students, teachers, administrators, Building Service Team Members, and Community Partners for making this happen for us!

Members of our Green Team were in attendance at the MAEOE Youth Summit on May 18, 2023 to receive our Maryland Green School Award.

It was a fabulous day filled with hands on environmental education, a nature hike, and a "mini plunge" in the Chesapeake Bay! Thank you to our dedicated principal, Ms. Shorts for joining us for part of the day. It was wonderful!

APRIL: EARTH WEEK at Eastern:

Sign Up for our Earth Day Invasive Plant Removal Day from 10-12 . We will meet in the parking lot. Please wear long sleeves and long pants. Bring Gardening gloves if you have them. SSL hours will be given to student volunteers. There are many different ways to help from litter removal to journalism to planting seeds. Bring your family! Rain Date TBD.

Wednesday after School: Join the Green Team for a School Yard Clean Up! All are welcome. We need to prepare for our Saturday Event, and the less litter, the better! Meet after school in the cafeteria.
